Background
I have a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from Hofstra University. My three concentrations were Fine Arts, American Literature and Philosophy. My interest in portraiture began in early childhood. As a child, I began my pursuit of expressing my visions through art. By the time I was fourteen, I was being commissioned to create portraits from photos. My skill was honed with the help of my late father, who himself was a talented artist, calligrapher, and photographer. My siblings and I were often asked to be my father’s models for his photographs. Hence, I learned a lot about posing and composition. He taught me the basics of watercolor and of oil painting. I honed my innate skills and abilities through hours of practice and trial and error. It never felt like work because I enjoyed it so much. It was how I spent my free time as a child.
Today, I am still inspired by a desire to create for all the above reasons, but most importantly, I love to make people happy. Delivering a final product, be it a portrait of a loved one, a pet, or a dignitary, also delivers a bit of joy to the receiver; and that is what I aim to do.
